Cullen Bay Car Parks, Darwin NT

Cullen bay started with a revitalization project in 2020 to update and modernize the amenities in the Cullen Bay area. This stretched from updating the beach front pedestrian walkways and adding new access from Marine Boulevard Road to the beach front, new ablution facilities and new amphitheater.

With these changes and upgrades it creates a big attraction to the area, thus the need for additional parking. Bennett Architecture was asked to design two proposals for multi-story carparks.

This been said the location is on the doorstep of Cullen bay and forms part of the entrance gateway into the modern new revitalized Cullen bay. Car park designs are usually strong in its form due to the functionality and therefore we opt to use nature as the inspiration to break down the cubist form. A play with rhythm and light and a green filled space created a welcomed entrance gate into Cullen bay. The proposal consists of two separate multi-story Carparks with the one next to the beach front having additional entertainment and leisure areas enjoying the views towards the west with some of Darwin’s best sunsets.
