beach pool, Darwin NT

Bennett Architecture have been involved with many large urban concepts overtime. Generally these have moved with the current politics and economy of the time which in Darwin has been boom and bust. The Darwin beach pool was one such concept which was to utilise the area now used by the Deck chair cinema.

A tidal pool was proposed at this location with amenities to include beaches, rock and swimming pools, with lawn and barbeque shelters, to the backdrop of parliament house. While this proposal was eventually discarded the key elements have been repeated at the Darwin Waterfront. Different time but same idea!
