RAAF CHILDCARE CENTRE, NT

In 2002 Bennett Architecture was commissioned by Allbuilt Constructions as architectural consultants for the design and construction contract of a new childcare & kindergarten facility at the RAAF Base Darwin. This facility was to replace the existing dilapidated and inadequate centre.

The spaces were designed to share important facilities such as kitchens and undercover outdoor areas, with more focussed areas adapted where required for the different needs of varying age groups. Internal finishes and colours were chosen to best suit the different activities for those areas, active zones treated differently to sleeping & rest areas or learning spaces.

The completed building is a fun, built for purpose facility that delivers cost saving to the user through innovation and has been well received and complemented by all involved.
