Eva's Cafe Extension, darwin botanical gardens, nt

Situated in the Darwin Botanic Gardens, Wesleyan Church (now known as Eva’s Café today) is one of the historic architectural items in Darwin since 1897. Several extensions have been completed over the years with one being an outdoor under covered decking which had been awarded to Bennett Architecture.

One of our main design criteria was that no new structural elements could be attached to the existing building and only connected from new steel columns and beams as well as the floor decking structure also does not connect to the existing floor systems. Continuing the original Wesleyan Church design onto the decking was also incorporated.
